Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how AlgoAce Technologies (“Beatgrit,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, shares, and protects your information when you use the Beatgrit mobile app and visit beatgrit.com.
1. Who we are
Beatgrit is a product of AlgoAce Technologies. We are the controller responsible for your personal information described in this policy. If you have any questions, contact us using the details in the “Contact us” section below.
2. Information we collect
2.1 Information you give us
- Account — your email address. You can sign in with an emailed one-time code, with Apple, or with Google. If you use Sign in with Appleand choose “Hide My Email,” we only ever receive Apple's private relay address.
- Your setup — the goal you choose, the barrier you identify, your current activity level, the days and time windows you can train, your time zone, and your language.
- What you tell the coach — the messages you send in coach chat and your weekly check-in answers.
- Optional preferences — coach tone, whether you want voice notes, and light nutrition intentionschosen from a fixed list (for example, “protein at breakfast”). We do not offer food logging and we do not collect what you eat.
- Optional limitations — if you tell us an area to work around (for example, a knee), we store that area so your plan can substitute movements. We never ask for, store, or infer a diagnosis.
2.2 Information created by using the app
- Training activity — sessions you complete, skip, repair, or log, with their type, duration, and date.
- Grit Score — your score, tier, active weeks, and a ledger of every change to it.
- Your plan — the weekly sessions generated for you.
2.3 Information collected automatically
- Device and technical data — device identifier, platform, app version, and IP address, used for security, abuse prevention, and diagnostics.
- Push token — so we can deliver the notifications you have opted into.
- Product analytics — in-app events such as screens viewed and sessions completed, used to understand and improve the product.
- Advertising identifier (IDFA/GAID) — only if you agree when asked, and only where local law permits.
2.4 Health and fitness data — only if you choose to connect it
Beatgrit can read health and fitness data from Apple Health (HealthKit) on iOS and Health Connect on Android. This is entirely optional, we never ask during signup, and the app works fully without it.
If you grant permission, we read only:
- Steps — to recognise activity you did outside the app.
- Workouts and exercise sessions — to automatically credit training you did elsewhere toward your Grit Score.
- Heart rate and resting heart rate — so your coach can offer an easier session when your recovery looks low.
We use this data for two purposes only: crediting activity you did outside the app, and making coaching recovery-aware. Access is read-only. We never write to, modify, or delete anything in Apple Health or Health Connect.
If you connect a Whoop account (optional), we read your recovery, sleep, cycle, and workout summaries for the same purposes. We deliberately do not request your Whoop profile or body-measurement data. Disconnecting deletes the connection and revokes our access.
Health data is handled differently from everything else we collect:
- It is never used for advertising or marketing.
- It is never shared with advertising networks, attribution providers, or third-party analytics.
- It is never sold.
- It is technically isolated within our systems, and that isolation is enforced by an automated test that fails our build if any code path would send health data to an advertising or analytics service.
You can revoke health access at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Health, or in Health Connect on Android. Revoking stops all further reads immediately, and the rest of the app continues to work.
2.5 Information visible to other people
If you use our optional social features — an accountability partner, a group challenge, or a witness you invite — your first name and whether you completed your sessions are visible to the specific people you are paired with. Your Grit Score, health data, coach conversations, and personal details are not.
3. How we use your information
- To build and adapt your weekly plan, track sessions, and calculate your Grit Score.
- To provide AI coaching — your training context and messages are sent to our coaching model to generate replies, nudges, and check-ins (see section 5).
- To send the notifications you have chosen, subject to your settings and quiet hours.
- To manage subscriptions, trials, and renewals.
- To protect the service against spam, fraud, and abuse.
- To understand which features help people keep going, and improve Beatgrit.
- To measure marketing — only where you have consented, and never using health data.
We do not use health or fitness data for advertising, for building marketing audiences, or for profiling unrelated to your training. We do not sell your personal information.
4. Legal bases for processing
Where the EU/UK GDPR applies, we rely on:
- Performance of a contract — to provide the app, your plan, and your account.
- Your explicit consent — for health and fitness data, which is a special category of personal data under Article 9. Consent is granted through the Apple Health or Health Connect permission prompt and can be withdrawn at any time by revoking that permission, without losing access to the rest of the app.
- Your consent — for sending your coach messages and training context to our AI providers. We ask for this in the app the first time you open the coach, before anything is sent, and you can withdraw it at any time in Coach settings. If you decline or withdraw, your plan, sessions, Grit Score, and the rest of the app keep working exactly as before — only the AI coach (chat, nudges, and voice notes) is switched off.
- Your consent — for advertising identifiers and marketing attribution.
- Legitimate interests — in operating, securing, analysing, and improving the service.
- Legal obligation — for tax, accounting, and compliance records.
5. How we share information
We share only what each provider needs, under appropriate confidentiality and data-protection terms. We never sell or rent your personal information.
- Supabase — hosting for our database, authentication, and backend; holds your account, plan, training, and coach data.
- Anthropic — receives your coach messages and training context to generate coach replies, only after you agree in the app. It receives no health data and no advertising identifiers.
- ElevenLabs — receives the text of a coach voice note to convert it to audio, only if you enable voice notes.
- RevenueCat — purchase and subscription events, to manage entitlements.
- Apple and Google — sign-in and in-app purchase data.
- Firebase Cloud Messaging and Apple Push Notification service — your push token and notification content, to deliver notifications.
- AppsFlyer — device and attribution identifiers, only with your consent, to measure which campaigns bring people to Beatgrit. It never receives health data.
- Whoop — only what is required to maintain your connection, if you connect it.
- Hosting and email providers — to serve the website and send service email.
We may also disclose information if required by law, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
6. Data retention
- Account and training data — kept while your account exists.
- If you delete your account — deletion begins immediately and completes within 30 days, except where we must retain records for legal or tax reasons.
- Health data — we keep only the recent derived signals needed for coaching. Disconnecting removes the connection and stops further collection.
- Security logs — kept for a short period, then deleted.
7. Your rights and choices
In the app, you can at any time:
- Export your data — Settings → Export my data.
- Delete your account and data — Settings → Delete account.
- Turn the AI coach off — You → Coach settings → AI coaching. Nothing further is sent to our AI providers, and the rest of the app is unaffected.
- Revoke health access— iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Health, or Health Connect on Android.
- Disconnect Whoop, turn notifications off by category, withdraw tracking consent in your device settings, or leave any partnership, challenge, or witness pairing.
Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal information, to object to or restrict its processing, to withdraw consent, and to complain to your local data-protection authority. To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@beatgrit.com. We will never penalize you for exercising your rights.
8. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit, encryption of sensitive content at rest, per-user database access rules, and server-side-only handling of secrets and API keys. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security — but health data is held to the strictest handling we apply.
9. International data transfers
Your information may be processed in countries other than your own, where data-protection laws may differ. Where required, we put appropriate safeguards in place for such transfers, such as Standard Contractual Clauses.
10. Children's privacy
Beatgrit is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. The app asks your age at signup. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
11. Not medical advice
Beatgrit is a fitness and habit app — not a medical device, and not a healthcare provider. Anything we show you, including suggestions based on health data or on an area you have asked us to work around, is general fitness guidance rather than diagnosis or treatment. Pain that persists is a matter for a qualified professional. Always seek medical advice before starting a new exercise programme.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above. Material changes will be communicated in the app or where otherwise appropriate.
